This little light surprised me. It's got three modes, flashlight, area light, and SOS mode. Pressing the power button momentarily cycles through them. On the flashlight and area light mode, holding the power button down will adjust the brightness. The pictures show the angle adjustment capabilities of the area lights, and that makes for a very even diffuse lighting which is MUCH better than some of the other torch or lantern style tent or area lights. It's much less of a harsh lighting solution. The flashlight end has a magnetic ring for sticking it to metal surfaces which is really handy for working on vehicles.I will probably order more of these for our camping adventures, because the operation of it is pretty friendly. I probably could do without the SOS mode, but the fact that once you've been in a mode for a bit, the next time you press the power button, it just turns off rather than cycling through the modes again. I also like how easy it is to recharge with USB, and there's a battery indication light near the charge port. If I had to nit pick about anything it would be that the hanger doesn't have any kind of included clip, so make sure you provide your own tie rope or carabiner to clip it to the top loop of your tent unless you already have a hook solution.It's also nice to put it in area light mode with the lights folder up and holding it like a wand, which lights the whole area you're in very nicely, again without harsh brightness and blinding you like some lanterns do if you look at them.
